Hazardous Materials Regulations have changed significantly over the last several years and the companies transporting hazmat are facing numerous problems in complying with the wide range of these regulations. A broad scope of Telargo solutions ensures compliance with the regulations in a simple and exact manner
HAZMAT challenges:
- Continuous real time vehicle positioning and tracking
- Continuous wireless communication
- Emergency notification capability
- Ability to receive instant exception notifications if vehicles deviate from their pre-scheduled route
- Computing routes based on safety and security concerns (documenting existing and proposed routes and utilizing routes in the National Hazardous Materials Route Registry)
Continuous real time vehicle positioning and tracking
Due to high significance of constant vehicle position monitoring the Telargo On-Board Unit is equiped with state of the art GPS module that provides real time vehicle position information which is immediately forwarded to Telargo Fleet Center. GPS is complemented with gyroscope that enables constant vehicle position monitoring in areas where no satellite communication is present, such as urban high-rise areas, tunnels, etc.
Continuous wireless communication
Reliable uninterrupted communication is important and Telargo provides two different communication channels that ensure safe and continuous flow of information. Primarily used GPRS data transfer is backed up with SMS communication channel that becomes active when GPRS signal is weak or lost.
The Telargo On-Board Unit with integrated hands-free kit provides safe two way voice communication while driving. Messaging allows sending messages to one or broadcasting to multiple vehicles, drivers or portal users. Delivery of each message is monitored, since read and received acknowledgement with time and location stamp can be requested. All messages are archived and can be reviewed later.
Emergency notifications capability
In cases of an emergency the Telargo On-Board Unit is equipped with an SOS Alarm Key that triggers a high priority notification which is sent to Telargo Fleet Center or any other emergency services. The exact vehicle location is known the moment the alert is activated and assistance can be expedited immediately.
Ability to receive instant exception notifications if vehicles deviate from their pre-scheduled route
A logistic application forms a geo-corridor based on a pre-scheduled route. This sets imaginary boundaries inside which the vehicle must travel. Every time a vehicle deviates from this pre-scheduled route an exception notification is triggered and sent to Telargo Fleet Center and if requested to the fleet manager via SMS or e-mail.
Computing routes based on safety and security concerns
A logistic application computes the safest and most efficient routes based on pre-existing routes from Hazardous Materials Route Registry combined with historical and other significant data while ensuring compliance with hazmat motor carrier regulations.
