The Telargo On-Board Unit is a highly advanced telemetry, positioning and communication device, with an ergonomically designed handset and user-friendly interface as well as a variety of further expansion and integration options.

Positioning
The Telargo On-Board Unit utilizes the latest GPS technology to acquire a vehicle’s position. Quick upload at cold start-up guarantees a fast position fix once the vehicle starts to operate. To provide the most accurate positioning in areas with weak or no GPS signal,, such as in tunnels or urban canyons, the Telargo On-Board Unit incorporates a gyroscope for dead-reckoning.

The vehicle’s position is read every second. A data compression algorithm is implemented to compress location data. This provides for exact trip recording.

Communication
Each Telargo On-Board Unit has a built-in wireless communication module (operation is subject to region where equipment is to be used). It supports the following multiple communication channels:

• primary channel using mobile internet (GPRS, CDMA)
• backup channel (text-messaging platform, professional digital radio network)

The Telargo Handset also allows hands-free voice communication.

To track and control the ever-growing list of vehicle electronic systems and general purpose sensors, the Telargo On-Board Unit has a wide range of supported interfaces for:

Low power consumption
The Telargo On-Board Unit is configured to conserve vehicle battery. Whenever the vehicle is turned off, the unit switches to power-saving mode, where it remains available to connection requests from the Telargo Fleet Center with no danger of draining the vehicle’s battery, even if the vehicle is shut down for a extended period of time.

Encased in a durable casing, the Telargo On-Board Unit is rugged and perfectly suited for a variety of harsh environments. It can be installed in:
